It's More Than the Music by Bill Gaither

what I found interesting is that he started out as a teacher although he always wanted to be full time in gospel music as composer and artist. There is so much wisdom in his years I was surprised. He has a lot of good insights and great little ditties or aphorisms along the way worth jotting down and keeping as quotes.

As Bill Gather tells his life journey he expresses very clearly it's more than the music and shares frankly about friendships, his spiritual journey and struggles, and pointing out what made life in his marriage, family and ministry/work etc meaningful. I think this description is very accurate of the book. It reads: Life Lessons on Friends, Faith, And What Matters. The subtitle to the book is different to what is showing here in Good Reads. But being a musician I love to read books like these (I have read books on George Beverly Shea and Andrea Crouch, and recently Larry Norman). I wasn't aware how many had been made in the series and that they sold into the millions around the world. I had watched a few with her and actually loved them. Then into her last years got to watching the Home Coming series on Christian channel. She loved the old gospel style of songs and singing. Anyone who's enjoyed previous Gaither releases need have no reservations about spending some time with the FREEDOM BAND.Another book from mum's collection I kept after she passed away. King tune, but it packs just as much of a devotional punch. The slow, stately 'Statue of Liberty''s solemn march tempo offers a patriotic statement that's sure to have extra impact in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks. Things kick off appropriately enough with the mission statement of the title tune, before segueing into the unadulterated praise song 'Bless That Wonderful Name.' It's not all gospel-tent uptempo material here, though. In the case of FREEDOM BAND, those sonic constants are carefully coordinated choral vocals belting out celebratory tunes with as much fervor as concision. FREEDOM BAND has the same kind of consistency with previous Gaither recordings that allows a McDonald's hamburger in Tokyo to promise the same culinary experience as one purchased in Idaho. By the time of FREEDOM BAND's release, virtually anything with the Gaither name on it was guaranteed a place on the Billboard album charts, a fact to which the Gaithers' prolific catalog attests. What started out as a cottage industry for Worship music icons Bill & Gloria Gaither was a full-blown phenomenon before too long, as Gaither-related album releases became more and more popular.
